The coffee is fine. The place looks inviting. What I can't get over, and it's been 6 months since I've been there, is the bathroom. It was absolutely disgusting. I can't believe they let people use it--employees shouldn't even use it! Seriously, when I think back and recall that coffee house I visited in UT, what I remember is the bathroom. Hopefully, they read this and decide they'd rather be remembered for their coffee, treats, decor, anything but a filthy bathroom.

The food is good and the coffee even better. We came here every morning on our ski trip and my friend that doesn't even drink coffee was drinking it.

Best latte I've had in Utah. Knowledgeable staff, roast their own beans, nice atmosphere, just wonderful.

Searched on yelp for a coffee shop to study at. This place is great. Beautiful open space, great coffee, and a lovely lady behind the counter. Definitely coming back.

We came in looking for some beans, the barista was very friendly and helped us choose the perfect bean to our taste description. Lovely atmosphere and free wifi. When we mentioned we were travellers he then wrote us a list of things to do and see. Awesome service!

Is there a 6-star option? Wow! Was walking through SLC on a layover for work and passed by (nearly, the smell brought me in) Millcreek. I had a coffee, pastry and liked the coffee so much that I decided to take some home. I was filling a French Roast bag from the container on the wall and it was nearly empty. One of the roaster saw my struggle to get this dark delight in the bag and came to offer me a pound of 'just roasted' French Roast. The owner walked by and chatted with me for a few minutes, offered his advice on the coffee storage and preparation, and then the guy in the back handed me a slightly warm bag of beans. I am hooked! Note that these beans right out of the roaster are only good for 10 days so buy small and often or drink a lot of joe ! Amazing coffee, local chocolates and other goodies...I'll be back soon.

Their espresso is simply the best! I can only drink great smooth non acidic espresso without milk products and sugar. Millcreek coffee is smooth!

I've already tried three of their bean varieties and have been pretty happy with them for the most part. The Mexican was delicious. Had a full, rounded taste with some almost-chocolates notes to it. The Four Bean was also good, with distinctive flavor notes. It didn't taste like "just" coffee- it (and the Mexican) had some variety to it. The White Mountain is my least favorite and was a definite disappointment. It lacks the intensity of flavor that the other two have. Still better than some other coffees I've tried. The coffee I got on my first two visits was *extremely* hot. Had to wait a while before I could even drink it safely. This last time is more instantly manageable. Staff is pleasant enough, some more talkative than others. I don't really need much from them though, so I'd say there's little opportunity for me to assess the service appropriately or fairly- aside from, "yes, they did their jobs." I go in, get the coffee, go out. Seems easy enough.

The vibe at Millcreek is pure "independent coffee house" of the sort you used to see in the 90s. (That is a compliment.) There are huge sacks of beans in the back, near the two enormous roasters. The staff are laid back and helpful. The coffee here is lovely. Great for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Good coffee, friendly staff, and a nice place to sit and hang out. In the summer, the espresso freeze is very refreshing. In the winter, the chai or a mocha.

Ok I LOVE great coffee and my favorite espresso. I'm not a coffee snob like some of these negative reviewers. This place has a very trendy and "we care" vibe. They offer good coffee and do grind and roast on site. For those who complain about the coffee being 2 weeks old (how old do you think the coffee is at other places that roast at factories and still have to ship and hold products?) Honestly folks this place is a treasure, I haven't seen a coffee establishment like this since the last time I was in Seattle. If you visit salt lake you have to stop by or you are missing out.

I was in SLC for a conference, and got six lattes here in five days. Five were made by the same person, and they were consistently perfect. The conference will be in Denver next year, and I'm seriously thinking that 500 miles isn't too far to go for good espresso.

Coming from a coffee snob, I thought this was excellent coffee. Their coffee and food were at a reasonable price. The staff was very friendly.

Granted, I've only been living in SLC for about 2 years but of all the locally-roasted coffees I've tastes, Millcreek's is the finest! Nice little shop, too. There's on-street and off-street parking, wifi, sandwiches and pastries and of course the deliciously acrid odor of nearly perpetual coffee roasting. Service is fast and friendly to boot.

i LOVE millcreek. stayed at the little america for 2 months last summer, and had the option of 3 or 4 coffee shops in walking distance. i tried millcreek the first day and never made it to any of the others! the layout is rad. they roast the beans inside all the time. super nice folks working....hope to be back soon!

The guy working here when I showed up was kind of surly. I think we got off on the wrong foot 'cause I walked into a place called "Millcreek Coffee Roasters" and ordered a cup of tea. So I deserved to get some attitude. No penalty. No stars withheld. The house genmaicha was awesome (kind of rare to find that in coffee shops). And they had Vosen pastries (a local bakery). The oatmeal raisin cookie was spectacular. (Did you know that Jimmy Carter's favorite cookie is oatmeal rasin? Abraham Lincoln liked gingerbread.) bit.ly/dw1zAp Overall, pretty standard. Nothing particularly inspiring about the decor or layout. Which isn't a horrible thing. Just saying. They really do roast beans here, so you can see all the roasting hardware, machinery. That's pretty cool.

In my opinion, Millcreek Coffee Roasters has the best espresso drinks in the valley. I don't know if it's the freshness, the roast, the beans, or a combination, but every espresso drink I've had their always tastes AMAZING! Coffee is good too - I order coffee about half of the time, but their espresso beverages are notably good for some reason. I initially tried them because they were generous enough to donate to my non-profit organization - "And Justice For All" - and I needed to go pick up the donation. I decided to grab a breve, and I was hooked! I find any excuse to get my coffee/ espresso beverages there now. Plus, they're a local company that supports local non-profits! One drawback - parking is limited.

Always a friendly face and a great cup of coffee to be found at Millcreek... Plus free wifi! :) A downtown favorite.

Millcreek is one of my favorite coffee shops in town. In college I would stop by and grab a latte or coffee whenever I had morning classes. The owner and baristas are very friendly and casual, and they have good selections of beans. That being said, I don't particularly like it when they always put drinks in to-go cups. Of course if the drink is to go, then it's alright, but even when I tell the barista the drinks are to stay they put them in to-go cups. It also matters who's working as far as the quality of the lattes go, but overall it's good. I'd suggest not hanging out inside here when they are roasting, as it usually becomes hard for anyone to breath comfortably.

This place should be ashamed of itself. They are a coffee house, and have just one brew to choose from? There should be at least a few choices, and if you are just going to have one, well then it should be good. I took two sips, and had to throw it out. It was way overbrewed, and tasted burnt. On top of it, the coffee was cold. Had I not started drinking this while driving, I would have asked for a refund. Too bad, because it seemed like it had potential.

Excellent espresso and a good selection of baked goods. Real laid back atmosphere but be careful because they roast the beans on site some afternoons which stinks up the whole place. Can be unbearable at times. Don't let that discourage you from stopping in for a cup though.

I once bought coffee beans here for use in my Saeco Vienna Deluxe Super-Automatic espresso machine. My bad! After checking the grind settings obsessively several times after ingesting strange tasting shots of espresso, my roommate and I both laughed when we realized it was the beans. I threw them out. Oddly, my other roommate fished the bag out of the garbage and consented to ingest them. Well, if anyone says so-and-so is a "master roaster"- don't buy an entire pound of coffee beans to find out. Some experiments are best left undone.

I'm here nearly every day of the week to grab a chai and those delicious toasted -almond biscottis. Some days I'll change it up and get a bagel with bacon, egg and cheese, that they'll add marinara sauce to and it's absolutely perfection. Great environment, great staff, great customers. Love this place.

This is a craft roaster doing a great job in downtown Salt Lake. Mill Creek roasts on two Probats and produces flavorful coffee in both blends and single origins. The espresso is sweet and balanced. This is a nice spot to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the mellow atmosphere!

This place is classy. The inside was huge and was a very relaxing atmosphere. Outside there were a few tables too. Good location. I had a macchiato and I didn't like it but that wasn't their fault. I just don't like them.

If you are looking for a place to study or relax in downtown Salt Lake, look no further than Millcreek Roasters. While their coffee is not one of my favorites in downtown, it's still pretty good. What really makes this place is the inviting atmosphere, including lots of couches, and the huge selection of drinks and snacks. They also have fast, free wifi and a nice staff.

Had a cappuccino which was standard issue coffeehouse quality; as Dwight Schrute once said..."good not great". Millcreek does have a range of 15 or so dispensers to get any quantity of beans to go. They stamp a "roasted date" on the description of each roast which was helpful. The espresso blend was full on Tuesday but I wasn't ready to buy. Went two days later (before my flight home) and it appeared empty. I asked if they had any in back. The lady was kind to check and came back with a huge bag, cut it open and poured me beans roasted just hours before. Doesn't get much better than that. Will stop by again next time in SLC. Oh, also bought a brick of the pink sea salt cacao that is milled next door. These could be used as auction items they are so rare. Another unique find that made the second visit worthwhile.

Nice place located near our hotel. Attentive staff, if a little distant. Fruit yogurt parfait is made while you wait, not made in advance and sitting in a display case forever like most places, so thumbs up there. Overall pleasant experience.

I'll give Millcreek 2 stars for the coffee beans and their lattes, etc., but their service seems to be on the decline. Usually, the staff is very friendly and attentive, but there have been a couple of times in recent weeks where I wait at the counter and no one acknowledges that I'm even there. No "well be right with you" or "welcome to Millcreek, we'll be with you in just a moment." Today, I got fed up after waiting for 5 minutes without the staff acknowledging my existence so took my need for a latte elsewhere (they were consumed with eating and making their own sandwiches). If the poor customer service experience continues, I'll be purchasing my coffee beans at an establishment other than Millcreek.

Great curb appeal with the open front - it just entices you to come inside for an espresso or hot coffee. I sampled the Peru drip coffee and it was rather memorable, and I don't normally drink Central American varietals. Their whole beans for sale are in one of those self-serve chutes like you see at the grocery store, which was a turn-off for me. Millcreek has an open warehouse feel to it with the roasting in the back, the bar up front, and then limited seating inside and out. Parking is limited next door and those annoying smokers outside the front door can be a pain. Service was polite, friendly, and there's little doubt I'll return on my visits to SLC.

I tried a bunch of times to get good roasted beans here, but in the end it just wasn't worth the trouble. The do roast pretty good beans. They roast to a nice city roast. They put roast dates on the bags AND have a nice write-up about how you need to use the beans in a couple weeks. So ends the good stuff. The beans on the front shelves are at, or just over the two week limits. When I ask, I'm told they need to get rid of them before putting out more freshly roasted beans. The owners have told me that I could ask for the fresh beans in the back and they would get them for me. You would think I was asking them to cross the Mississippi to get them. Plus, they would complain about how it messed up the system for ringing them up to sell them. It was only dropping the owners name that I got anything. The baristas I met did not like straight espresso. That's a sign that you're not going to get well made coffee drinks. When a barista doesn't like espresso, they're just using the milk and flavors as a cover up for bad espresso. You can tell. So, if you make an effort you can get good beans. But, in general it's just OK. Better than Starbuck$, but not the best in town.

Atmosphere is lame. Coffee ok. Had a bagel off the panini press, so not at all toasted just char marks along with a philadelphia cream cheese single. Same thing you'd get a 7-11.

I was in Salt Lake for one day and looked up 5 coffee roasters. MIllcreek was my first stop, and glad it was. They were roasting that day and I talked with the roaster as he was working. Very very nice staff and the coffee was excellent. I bought 2 different coffee's, brought them home and am very disappointed that I didn't buy more! Great people here, you cant go wrong. Stop in and have a cup of Joe.

Get here early if you want a croissant. They run out fast, but they have a respectable selection of bagels.

I got a latte, it was pretty good. I would prefer if they served it in a real cup, disposable cups in a cafe is never as good. Also bad for the world.

Most of the time the coffee here is great; but I go here for the beans. Unlike another review posted here, I have not found it hard to get freshly roasted beans. Sometimes there is stuff that is at or near the two week boundary, but I have never had trouble getting the folks there get me freshly roasted beans. On the bad side... the last batch of beans I bought were the "Dark Guatemalan". I don't know if the "Dark" was "intentional", but I think it was a BIG mistake. The Guatemalan they have is my favorite bean, and roasting it dark intentionally or by mistake burnt all the flavor out of it. :-( Hope they don't do that one again. Another great bean they have is the Indian Monsooned, sometimes they do a variant called Monsooned Thunder. Both these are delicious. They are not available often, so if you see it grab some.
